Check the detail
It’s always important to go through the terms and conditions before buying any broadband package. This is where you will find information on essentials such as contract length, cancellation fees, data allowances and any hidden costs. It’s always tempting to just skim through the small print, but read it all carefully to make sure you’re happy with the details.

Pros & cons

- Customer service seven days a week
- 18-month contracts
- Some activities subject to traffic management
- Not the fastest broadband provider
Which package is right for me?
Broadband and phone
Choose from standard broadband averaging 10Mbps or fibre. EE offers two fibre pacakges - averaging 36Mbps or 67Mbps. Upload speed starts at just 1.5Mbps on standard broadband and up to 25Mbps on fibre.
All EE broadband packages come with a phone line and inclusive weekend calls. If you still use your landline a fair amount it might be worth pay a few extra pounds a month and upgrading to anytime calls. You can also upgrade to international calls if you wish.
TV and broadband
EE also offers a TV package. Although not comparable to the likes of Virgin or Sky, if you like the idea of having a joined-up telecoms service that includes broadband and TV with catch-up and on-demand facilites, then it's worth consideration - especially as it is only an extra £5 per month.
What will I need?
A fibre optic cable
To enjoy EE’s fibre speeds, you’ll need a fibre optic cable installed. When you order your package, you can arrange a time for an engineer to visit your home. You can use the availability checker at the top of the page to see which EE services are available in your area.
A wireless router for your broadband
You’ll receive a free wireless router from EE when you sign up. This will provide your broadband connection, enabling you to connect various devices wirelessly. There will be a set of instructions that will help you to get started.
How do I switch?
Decide which package is right for you
You can choose an EE package from the table above. By clicking on a package, you’ll be shown a breakdown of what’s included. This will give you information on channels, extra costs and pricing. Once you have decided, click on the blue ‘See Deal’ button, and you’ll be redirected to EE’s website where you can complete your purchase.
Cancellation is often automatic
Once you have bought your package, your new provider will generally contact your old one and cancel on your behalf. This means you won’t have to lift a finger; unless, that is, you’re moving to EE from Virgin Media. Because Virgin operates on a separate network, you will have to contact Virgin Media yourself to tell them that you’re cancelling and moving to EE.
Six essential questions before you buy
- How much speed do I need?
- How often do I use my home phone?
- Are the services available in my area?
- What is my budget?
- Will a broadband-only package benefit me in the long run?
- Have I read the terms and conditions?
Now you have all the information you need, it’s time to make a decision. First, decide on whether you want to purchase a broadband-only or broadband and phone deal, then take it from there. But make sure you read through the small print before purchasing any package.
