Frequently asked questions
EE Mobile has a large selection of SIM only plans with different allowances of inclusive minutes, texts, and data. Take a look at the deals above, or read on to find the answers to any questions you might have.
What is EE's coverage like?
EE's network offers the widest 4G coverage in the UK. Its 4G service currently covers 99% of the population, and for those that cannot get 4G, EE's 4G coverage extends to 98% of the UK population.
EE was the first provider to offer the 4G service and has continued to grow since then.
Note that these coverage percentages are based on population rather than area, so it’s possible that some rural areas of the UK will have no coverage at all.
The EE coverage checker will show you what coverage is like where you live.
What’s the cheapest EE SIM only deal?
Prices can change on a regular basis so the best way to seek out the cheapest deal is to arrange the above EE deals in order of price, starting with the cheapest at the top.
Does my phone have to be unlocked?
If you purchased your handset from another provider, such as Vodafone or O2, then it’s more than likely that you’ll need to get it unlocked before you can use it on EE Mobile.
The most straightforward way to unlock your phone is to contact the provider you bought it from and request an unlock code. Otherwise, you can go to a mobile phone unlocking specialist, either online or on the high street. Most businesses charge a fee to unlock your phone.
Does EE allow tethering?
Yes, EE does permit tethering, so you can use your data allowance for your tablet, laptop or anything else should you wish.
Can I use EE Mobile abroad?
Yes, you can use your EE connection abroad. EE offers three different Travel Data Passes for different regions of the world, which give you a fixed 500MB of data per day. The charge for this is £3 per day for the Europe Zone, £4 in the United States and Canada, and £5 in nine other countries. You just need to text TRAVEL to 150. You can leave this extra in place – there is no need for it to be removed when you come home, as it will only be charged when you are abroad.
Can I combine EE Mobile with broadband?
There are no advantages to getting an EE mobile deal if you already have an EE broadband deal. The services operate separately.
Does EE do mobile broadband?
Yes, EE does offer mobile broadband in the form of data-only SIMs, and also offers various gadgets if you want to connect more than one device. These include two portable 4GEE WiFi devices, a Car WiFi device and a 4G home broadband device.
