NOW Broadband currently offers the cheapest broadband deal, with some provisos
It's all very well comparing broadband deals – you can do exactly that elsewhere on our site. That's not what this page is about. Here, you can save yourself a little time if you simply want to find the cheapest deal. We've found it for you. Right now it's the 63Mbps NOW Broadband Super Fibre Broadband package at £21 per month. There are some caveats and provisos to that, though. So let's get into it.
NOW Super Fibre Broadband
NOW Broadband's Super Fibre Broadband is an odd fish in many ways. Not only the cheapest fibre deal right now at £21, but also has both a 12-month and a zero-contract package option. In the former, up-front cost is only a fiver, in the latter, it's £65. You're only ever tied into the deal for 30 days at a time, offering unusual flexibility by measure of any broadband deal, let alone the cheapest one, where usually such flexibility would come at additional monthly cost – rather than an initial up-front outlay.

For the purpose of our choice of cheapest deal though, let's focus on the 12-month contract version since it is the cheapest overall. NOW Broadband is also one of only two providers (the other being Plusnet) that won't do any credit checks. That makes the provider an ideal choice for anyone whose credit score has suffered during recent hard times.
There are cheaper deals, but they are either too rare or too slow
Let's get down to brass tacks then. Time to fess up. NOW Broadband Super Fibre isn't actually the cheapest deal – shock, horror! So why is it our pick as the cheapest? Well, it's actually quite simple really. Cheaper deals right now are either:
Too slow – There are one or two cheaper deals that are ADSL right now. So not fibre broadband, and as such offering just 10-11Mbps. We just can't recommend these anymore. They're far too slow for most households and all but a few providers have or are in the process of phasing them out
Too rare – Pure fibre providers with their own networks do offer cheaper and faster deals right now. However, the likes of Hyperoptic, Gigaclear and Community Fibre are available to only a tiny proportion of the UK population. We invite you to try your luck – we're listed their cheapest deals below – but we wouldn't get our hopes up if we were you

If you have your eye on a lot of nice to have features like an app to control your security and manage your devices, a TV package, an inclusive call package, a new-fangled WiFi 6 router, wifi extenders, speed guarantees and more, forget it with NOW Broadband, which is cheap, delivers broadband connectivity, and largely that's your lot.
If you need a bit more than basic broadband you're going to have to pay more. And if you're looking for feature-packed deals you're going to need to look to premium providers that offer a more gold-plated service. Those being Sky, Virgin Media and BT. You can compare all the current broadband deals in one place or take a peek at our most popular deals below.
It should be noted that 63Mbps is the average offered by this package and as such, some customers will get faster speeds and some slower. It all depends where you live. NOW Broadband will be able to give you a good idea of the speed you will get during the sign-up process. That said, here is what you will be able to do with a 63Mbps broadband connection:

NOW Broadband Hub 2
NOW Super Fibre Broadband comes with the NOW Broadband Hub 2, and although there are no frills to speak of, NOW Broadband hasn't skimped too much on this capable router. Just as well, because this is the one area where you cannot afford to slash costs too much. Here are the specs:
Reliable wifi – The NOW Broadband Hub 2 uses the 802.11ac standard, which is common amongst most other routers and essentially means you will get a reliable wifi signal around your home.
Two gigabit ethernet ports – Although NOW doesn’t offer gigabit broadband, these two ethernet ports allow you to connect two devices of your choice by cable to your router, ensuring the fastest possible speeds and a reliable connection.
Dual frequency bands – As with many other routers, the NOW Broadband Hub 2 uses both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies to make sure that every device is optimally connected at any one time/
Smart channel selection – This means that the router automatically chooses the best of its two frequencies to connect your devices to your wifi signal at any time.
Five antennae – The NOW broadband Hub has five antennae to ensure good coverage and minimise the number of wifi black spots in your home.

Pay-as-you-go landline calls as standard
NOW Broadband offers comprehensive broadband packages that include a phone line, catering to various customer needs. While landlines have become less essential with the prevalence of mobile phones, having a home phone can still be valuable for home businesses or households operating on that preference. NOW Broadband's phone lines operate on a pay-as-you-go basis, where customers are charged for each call made. However, during the checkout process, customers have the option to add a free anytime calls package for a small additional monthly fee. This package is especially beneficial for those who anticipate frequent outgoing UK calls from their home phone, and NOW Broadband recommends opting for this option in such cases.
