Why choose Sky+HD?
A vast array of TV channels, including Sky Atlantic
Sky offers the widest choice of TV channels in the UK. Whatever your taste, there is usually something to keep everyone entertained. You can enjoy top quality drama series on Sky 1 and Sky Atlantic and keep up-to-date with the headlines on Sky News. Plus, if you’re a sports fan or movie lover, you can upgrade your package and enjoy access to Sky Sports and Sky Movies in high definition.
Crystal-clear high definition
HD offers fives times sharper picture quality and sound than standard definition. Whether you want to be enthralled by the latest blockbuster film, or caught up in the action of a Premier League football match, HD will dramatically enhance your viewing experience.
Great features on the Sky+ HD box
With the Sky+HD box you can pause and rewind live TV, and also record up to 60 hours of HD TV. That’s enough to record a whole TV series. If you feel that isn’t enough, you can upgrade to a Sky+HD 2TB box. This will allow you to store up to 350 hours of HD content. Plus, with the built in Wi-Fi, you can connect your Sky box to any broadband router and enjoy Sky’s TV on demand services, as well as catch-up services from BBC iPlayer, ITV on demand and 4oD.

Which package is right for me?
The amount of HD channels you get will depend on which Sky bundle you choose. You can take Sky+HD as a standalone package or combine it with broadband and a call plan. All Sky TV packages include 240 free-to-air channels and the option to add on Sky Sports and Sky Movies. If you are already a Sky TV customer, you can upgrade to an HD package.
The Original Bundle
If you don’t want to spend a lot on a TV package, then this is the one to go for. It comes with over 35 entertainment channels and 11 free-to-air HD channels, including Sky Atlantic and Sky One. This bundle also includes access to Catch Up TV, which lets you watch shows you’ve missed on more than 60 channels.
The Variety Bundle
If you want more channels, then this bundle is next on the list. It comes with over 75 channels, including 11 free-to-air HD channels. It includes all the same channels as the Original Bundle, plus documentary, news, sports, music and kids’ channels.
The Family Bundle
If you have a family that loves watching TV, you may want to opt for this. It offers the same as the Variety Bundle, but comes with over 50 HD channels. You also get access to TV box sets via Sky On Demand, where you can watch you favourite shows whenever you like. You even get to watch some shows in 3D.
The Complete Bundle
This package is ideal for telly addicts and comes with a surplus amount of channels. Everything is the same as the Family Bundle, but also includes Sky Movies HD and Sky Sports HD. However, it is the most expensive of the bundles.
What will I need?
A satellite dish
Sky HD operates through a satellite dish, which is linked to your Sky+HD box. If you’re living in a rented property, you have to make sure you get permission from the landlord before the installation takes place. An engineer will then come to install your dish. Make sure someone is at home for the installation process – it shouldn’t take too long to get set up.
Broadband for On Demand
In order to make use of this feature and enjoy watching your favourite box sets, you’ll need broadband. Sky’s basic up to 17Mbps package will do the job, but if you rely on your broadband for other online activities, you may want to opt for a faster fibre package.
How do I switch?
Decide on the right package
You can choose a Sky+HD deal from the table above. By clicking on the package, you’ll get a breakdown of what’s included in the plan. This will give you information on a number of features, including channels and pricing. You can sort the list as you wish, according to monthly cost, contract length or total savings. Once you have made a selection, click on the ‘See Deal’ button, where you’ll be redirected to the provider’s website to purchase your deal.
Cancel with your provider
If you are switching from another provider, you’ll have to let them know that you are leaving. If you cancel your contract before the minimum term expires, you’ll be subject to a termination charge. Normally, you will need to give your provider 30 days’ notice, but read the terms and conditions to check whether this applies.
