Customer service

Plusnet

Plusnet has won multiple Which? awards for its customer service in the past, and the provider is one of only a handful to offer full UK call centres for technical support.

TalkTalk

TalkTalk has an unfortunate history of poor customers service, with the data breach in 2015 being the most recent event. However, TalkTalk is working hard to improve customer satisfation and thus far things look good.

Technology and equipment

Plusnet

Plusnet boasts the Hub One router, which comes with four ports and wireless connectivity. This will support fibre optic and standard broadband. However, you will need to pay £6.99 for postage and packaging.

TalkTalk

All TalkTalk's broadband plans come with the Super Router, which is dual band, and has a USB port, so you can share content across your home network easily.

Extra features

Plusnet

With Plusnet, you’ll get an entire year of free McAfee with your Unlimited packages. All the devices that are connected to your home broadband network, will be protected from the internet baddies, without you having to worry.

TalkTalk

If you choose TalkTalk you’ll get HomeSafe security, which allows you to protect all of your internet devices from the dangers of the web without downloading additional software. Plus, you can also set time limits to filter social networking sites like Facebook, while the kids are doing their homework.

Conclusion

So which provider should you choose? We think both are fairly similar in many respects, but the award-winning customer service of Plusnet may be enough to push you in that provider’s direction.
