5 of the best short-contract broadband deals in March 2017

Short-term broadband has moved with the times; no longer are you restricted to a heavily limited 17Mb connection. Both Virgin Media and Now TV (Sky) are offering 30-day rolling fibre deals for not much more per month than a 12-month contract - and without any of the long-term commitment.

You can choose anything from unlimited 200Mb with Virgin Media to 17Mb with a 20GB usage limit from Zen. Prices inevitably vary according to speed and provider, but the choice is plentiful. We've picked five of the best 30-day broadband deals currently available.

1
Virgin Media

Virgin Media

SuperFibre 50

  • Download speed
    Up to 50Mbps
  • Contract term
    One month
  • Usage limit
    Unlimited usage
  • Upfront cost
    £59.99
  • Monthly cost
    £40

To be able to get a 200Mb broadband connection on a one-month basis sounds too good to be true - and yet, it is now possible. In fact, Virgin is now offering all its broadband speeds - 50Mb, 100Mb and 200Mb on 30-day contracts. So whether you just want to try it out or are looking for a short-term contract for any other reason, the option is now there - subject to availability in your area.

As with any other short-term contracts, you will pay extra for the 30-day service. For 50Mb, you will pay £40 per month rather than £32, and for 200Mb you will pay £58 rather than £45.

Now TV

Now TV

Now TV and broadband

  • Download speed
    Up to 76Mbps
  • Contract term
    One month
  • Usage limit
    Unlimited usage
  • Upfront cost
    £44
  • Monthly cost
    from £24.99

Now TV is powered by Sky and that is reflected in the range of broadband choice. Choose from 17Mb, 38Mb or 76Mb – all are available on one-month contract terms. Should you want to, you can sign up for a longer period if you want to - but the one-month option gives you the flexibility to decide what's best for you.

The major drawback of taking broadband or fibre with Now TV is that you cannot get broadband alone - it has to be taken with a Now TV package. Choose from Entertainment, Movies, Sports or Kids - or any combination of that four.

Broadband with line rental

There is an activation cost of £48, although if you are switching from another provider you won’t have to pay an activation fee. However, you will have to pay for a broadband router – prices start from £35.94 for a basic one – without it you won't be able to go online.
