How to compare and buy Sky bundles
Sky TV offers an array of bundles to suit everyone’s taste. Once you have decided which bundle is right for you, there’s an option to add on broadband and phone. To save you the hassle of finding the right package, the comparison table above provides a breakdown of each deal.
The availability of Sky bundles varies if you take out Sky broadband, but Sky TV is available throughout the country via satellite. Although standard Sky broadband is available in the majority of households, those who are outside the network area will only be able to get Sky Broadband Connect. This is a little pricier, and somewhat slower, and comes with a 40GB usage allowance.
You can use our availability checker to see what services are on offer in your area. You can then compare what each package offers, including the channels, broadband speed and price. If you like anything you see, click on “See Deal” and you’ll be redirected to the Sky website where you can make your purchase.
Check the detail
Before jumping on the Sky bundle bandwagon, make sure you are getting what you want, and that you are happy with all the details. Although it is a long-winded process, take time to read through the terms and conditions, which will include information on additional charges, length of the contract and cancellation terms.
Why choose a Sky Bundle package?
No other provider can compete with the channels that Sky has to offer, from top-notch drama on Sky Atlantic to hours of sporting entertainment on Sky Sports. There are also a number of kids’ channels including the Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon to keep the little ones entertained, and News Channels to keep the adults informed. Plus, with the largest number of HD channels supplied by any provider, you can enjoy your favourite TV in crystal-clear definition.
Sky Broadband offers truly unlimited usage
Whether you just do some occasional web browsing or download endless movies, Sky has the right broadband for you. As well as the standard unlimited broadband, Sky also offers fibre broadband that can handle multiple devices at once, ideal for bigger households who demand a lot from their broadband connection.
Inclusive freebies and perks
Sky is very generous with its extras and it offers quite a range, including the Sky Broadband Shield. This useful parental control tool is ideal for a family household. You can filter what content is visible in your home through your broadband, and even customise privacy settings into age categories. Other perks include access to thousands of wi-fi hotspots, including popular highstreet stores and restaurants, such as Pizza Express. Public wi-fi is included in your unlimited usage, so it won’t affect your mobile data allowance. Plus, with the Sky Go app you can watch your favourite shows on your laptop, smartphone or tablet while you are on the move.

Which package is right for me?
The best way to start is to choose which Sky TV deal you are going to purchase first. This will depend on what you like watching and how often you watch TV; thereafter you can concentrate on your broadband and phone options.
Catch up and on demand come with every bundle
Sky offers a huge range of free-to-air channels as well as HD channels. You will also have access to catch up TV, where you can watch shows that you have missed from the past 30 days, on BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5. If you choose to purchase the Family Bundle, you will get access to a library of 200 TV box sets on demand, so you can watch your favourite programmes whenever you like.
Sport and Cinema are available as add-ons
You can add Sky Cinema or Sky Sports to your package at an additional cost, however there are bundles that do include the two biggies. Keep in mind that all the channels won’t be in HD unless you opt to have them, which costs an extra £5.25 per month.

The smart set-top box allows you to pause, rewind and record live TV. It offers a generous amount of memory, in which you can store 185 hours of standard TV or approximately 60 hours of high definition TV, enough to record a whole series. Plus, it comes with built-in wi-fi, making it easier to connect to TV on demand.
Sky Multiscreen comes with Sky Go Extra
There is also an option to buy the Sky Multiscreen box, which allows you to watch different Sky channels in different rooms. Plus you get Sky Go Extra for free, which allows you to watch Sky programming on selected smartphones, laptops and tablets.
Sky is known for great TV and broadband deals, and Broadband Lite offers 2GB of usage at no extra cost. It’s ideal for daily browsing, emailing and online shopping – great for a very light user. However, for those who love watching catch up TV and on demand the usage will be gone in no time. If you decide it’s not enough, you can easily upgrade. In fact, if you go over the limit more than once, Sky will upgrade you automatically.
Unlimited usage is the best option for heavy users
If you love downloading it may be a good idea to go for a broadband package that is ‘truly unlimited.’ You can download as much as you like, without worrying about being charged. It is also important to take the speed into account, which will be affected by many factors, including the amount of users there are in your household and how much you download.
Compare broadband speed options:
- Sky Broadband Unlimited – up to 17Mbps
- Sky Fibre Unlimited – up to 38Mbps
- Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro – up to 76Mbps
Picking the right phone plan will depend on how much you love chatting to your friends and family, and whether you just call UK mobile and landline numbers or you need to call abroad.
Compare Talk Plan packages (all include a line rental of £17.40 per month)
- Sky Talk Evenings & Weekends Extra – £2 per month
- Sky Talk Anytime Extra – £4 per month
- Sky Talk Anytime International Extra - £12 per month
What will I need?
When you sign up for a Sky bundle, you will need a satellite dish installed. Your viewing card will come through the post, as well as the date of installation. The Sky engineer will then come and install your dish. You may also need to change your line rental, which will depend on the provider you are leaving.
The Sky Hub is very easy to install, with no help required. You will receive a step-by-step guide on how to get connected. If your computer isn’t compatible with wireless technology, you will be able to purchase a wireless adaptor, which will allow you to get access to the internet via the Sky Hub. For the areas in your home where you are unable to get access to wi-fi, you can purchase a Sky Wireless Booster, which should improve the signal.
How do I switch?
It all depends on which provider you are switching from. Sky’s Switch Squad helps make your move easy, and in most cases they will talk to the provider for you. It will take about two weeks for your Sky broadband to go live. However, if you are a Virgin customer, you may need to change your phone line, which will be established when you speak to the Switch Squad. If a new line needs to be installed, Sky will arrange a convenient time to come to your home. Once you have been set up, you will need to contact Virgin to cancel.
